Mother and her two daughters enrolled in Crossroads headstart program

“I feel extremely comfortable and confident having my girls with such professional and compassionate teachers and staff.  Not only do they provide a safe and warm atmosphere, but I am so amazed at the things that my girls learn.  The curriculum works so well that it seems as though it is tailor made for each individual child.  Thank you, Crossroads, for making families a priority and helping mine become the best it can be!”
Jaime S.

Head Start first began as part of the War on Poverty in 1969.  Its primary aim is to provide quality early childhood education to children in need.

Mother and child in early childhood education programs

“I didn’t know where to turn for help with my autistic son James.  Then I found Crossroads’ EHS program.  At no point did I ever feel as though my child was a burden to the teachers.  He developed a very strong bond with them, and I was so thankful that they cherished my precious little boy as much as I did.”

We encourage confidence, spontaneity, curiosity, self-discipline and work to enhance your child’s social and emotional skills and abilities.

We stress parent involvement, and we recognize the parent’s role as the principle influence on the child’s development.
Head Start Program And Early Childhood Education Programs

What We Do
Crossroads’ Early Head Start Program serves infants (including pregnant moms) and toddlers from birth to age three (3).  Our Head Start preschool program serves children who are three (3) or will be four (4) by the date of September 1.  Children whose families meet federally-imposed income guidelines, are in foster care, or are homeless are eligible for services.

When children graduate from our early childhood education programs and enter pre-K or kindergarten, we help with the transition so that it is as smooth and stress-free as possible.

We realize that headstart program  families have other needs such as job training and placement, family counseling, emotional support, referral to specialty providers, etc.  Crossroads will assist as much as possible in meeting those needs through the efforts of our Family Advocates, nurses, licensed mental health providers, and other specialty staff associated with the program as well.

In fact, here is just some of what we offer:
  • Full-Day or Part-Day options in Head Start and Full-Day services in Early Head Start
  • Nutritious meals
  • Free health screenings
  • Qualified, credentialed teachers
  • Services for children with special needs
  • Licensed centers, most of which are three-star rated in quality
  • Clean, bright, attractive facilities
  • Assistance with unique needs of families
